Run free!

I like to think about life, why we live the way we do, why we make the choices we make, what makes us "tick".  Reading the book Born to Run opened my eyes to a new way to think about exercise, running... and life.  It's back to basics: using the feet, foregoing modern props, and, most importantly, running... just running for the sheer joy of running, with passion and compassion.  On the pavement, in a crowd, on a trail, solo but for the trees:  Run free!

A recent story of community, passion, and compassion:

Aurora!

Aurora, it was so good to see you again!

I had a quick peek at the northern lights last fall before I left on my travels. Reports of amazing aurora views last fall and this winter tantalized me from a distance. Walking out and seeing the glow in the sky last night was so delightful, especially in the company of good friends and with the incredible vista of the northern horizon from the cliff-top. Fortunately, I had my camera and tripod along to try out some aurora photography, something I've not done since my days in Michigan using an old hand-crank SLR and taking just a few careful shots with 35mm Fuji Velvia. After about 7+ years of lower activity, the aurora trend appears to be on the upswing. Perfect timing.

Spring's symphony

Revel with the symphony of spring renewal!

Despite the slow progression of spring this year, the buds are spouting bit by bit and the peepers are out in full song. I'm loving these blue sky days. However... please... we do need rain, the drenching, soaking, steady downpour sort.
