kaivama

Kaivama, Finnish-American excavators Sara Pajunen and Jonathan Rundman, performed in Ely on Saturday. With a Kaivama twist to some Finnish tunes, this concert was definitely one of the best in Ely this summer! Eli Bissonett joined Kaivama with his violin for a few tunes as well. Two violins and a harmonium = soulful.

Busy bees and bumbling bees

The bees were busy with the hollyhocks this evening. Moving from flower to flower, their fuzzy bodies come away from the flowers covered in the white specks of pollen. They move efficiently in most cases, but not all. One character had difficulty making it in to the center of a partially opened hollyhock, clumsily hitting the outer petals. Drunk on nectar? And, the bee in these photos did not move more than half an inch in the time I was watching. I can only wonder why... unless there's a bee expert out there who can share?

Berry Crop

The juneberries were plentiful this year, but the blueberry harvest is a disappointing situation. So, this year, after an evening in a blueberry patch, I have my berry crop. My Blueberry Crop is available in a variety of formats, including small individual 3" prints and a four-square as a 7"x7" print, each printed on cotton watercolor paper with a deckled edge. In limited supply, I am also offering mini cards of the berry crop; these are 2"x2" cards in a variety set of 6. Oh - the sweetness!
