The sole berry left on this bush nourished me while I nourished the mosquitoes, more delighted than me I'm sure, to have a stationary target for a bloody tasty feast. Despite the swishing away of mosquitoes, I had my own fill, evidenced by fingers, lips, and teeth tinged with blue.
I was picking the "seconds" in this blueberry patch. I'm convinced that "seconds" are a good deal. Once the first berries are picked, the next batch has the opportunity to become quite plump and really tasty.

That is a really lovely picture. I confess, I've never gotten down to the blue berry's level, as I'm quite tall and I have bad knees. But I love the whole concept of seeing things from new view points. I just have never taken the camera on a blue berry expedition. I have a camera with a swivel screen, so it is a possibility.
Our favorite blueberry swamp, just minutes from our house has NO blueberries, though we got quarts and quarts from there the last few years. But we went to a dryer area and picked some last weekend. We have been spoiled about not having to drive very far.
I love this photo - and I'd never really thought about "seconds" before. Next year I will be sure to try them.
Thank you...
It is interesting how the location of the blueberry "bonanza" changes each year. A few years ago I was so fortunate to be introduced to the best wild blueberry patch I've ever seen. Berries were so plentiful that for hours I picked just the largest berries. The following year there were almost no berries in that location.
