Sitting with the lupines, I listened to the quiet of the evening... and the hum of the bumblebees as they spiraled around the columns. The bees moved efficiently from one pod to the next, quickly and gently opening it and reaching in for the sweetness.

Lupines always make me think of two things: one is a children's book I got from the Cook Library when the kids were small about a Lupine Lady who planted the seeds here and there. And the other is the time we went to Bayfield, probably in June, quite some years ago. Lupine were everywhere in Northern Wis as we drove. They cheer me up. I saw some along a road side on Wed. this week. I haven't been very successful having them grow in my garden: the aphids got them.
I love your photos. My lupine are already done blooming. :( Hope all is well in Ely!
